    Shen Yun Vacation Photos

  • Possibly the most adventurous of Shen Yun’s vacationers, dancers (from left) Alvin Song, Alex Chun, and Ben Chen journeyed to the Middle East, starting with Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza.
  • And on to Jordan’s ancient city of Petra where they met a young lady who was the only other tourist there that day.
  • They danced in Jordan’s red rock caves…
  • Chillaxed with Bedouin...
  • And crossed over to Israel, where they took a walk on the ramparts of Old Jerusalem.
  • Back in Ben Chen’s home country, projectionist Annie Li was admiring another Big Ben.
  • She had just been to London as part of the 2016 Europe tour, but couldn’t get enough.
  • MC Julie Xu never had a chance to perform in Greece, and so she took her vacation in Athens.
  • ...and made some friends.
  • Meanwhile, in Washington DC, (from left) Principal Dancer Tony Xue, MC Leeshai Lemish, and Principal Dancer Rocky Liao were invited to speak at a panel marking 50 years since the start of the Cultural Revolution in China. The panel discussed the destruction of traditional Chinese culture and its revival by Shen Yun. TV anchor Xiang Dong (right) moderated the panel.
  • MC Leeshai Lemish introduced Shen Yun’s history, the incident in South Korea last month, why the Chinese Communist Party fears Shen Yun, and how it has not slowed down the company.
  • The event took place in the U.S. Capitol Building’s Visitor Center Auditorium. Tony Xue told of his personal journey to becoming a Shen Yun principal dancer and the fulfillment he has found reconnecting with his own heritage.
  • And Principal Dancer Rocky Liao gave a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes trials and hardships of a professional dancer, what it takes to overcome them, and why it’s all worth it.
  • For some reason, Japan was the destination of choice for 2016 Shen Yun performers. Away from the bustle of Tokyo, Principal Dancer Kenji Kobayashi was capturing motion in stillness.
  • Originally from Japan, Kenji Kobayashi combined going home to family with some quiet time...
  • ...with nature.
  • And as the sun sets on another short vacation, it rises on preparation for a new world tour... Tim Wu in Ueno Park, Tokyo, Japan. (photo by dancer Nancy Wang)
  • After five months touring the world, what do Shen Yun performers do when they finally get a vacation? Travel, of course.
