Shen Yun Completes Milestone 20th Anniversary World Tour
Over a million people across 20 countries attended performances by the New York-based company
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 2026
Shen Yun Performing Arts has officially completed its 20th Anniversary World Tour, marking another landmark in its mission to bring back the lost culture and beauty of “China before communism.”
The 2026 season featured eight equally large touring companies performing simultaneously across 165 cities in 20 countries and five continents, presenting well over 700 performances to more than one million audience members worldwide.
With the season’s final five shows at Toronto’s Four Seasons Centre last weekend, Shen Yun has now performed for over 11 million audience members since its founding in 2006.
“Shen Yun exists to preserve something precious,” said Principal Dancer Piotr Huang. “Every performance is an opportunity to reconnect with values like compassion, courage, and hope—values that transcend time and culture.”
Founded in New York's Hudson Valley in 2006, Shen Yun is an American company whose mission is to revive classical Chinese culture—the artistic, aesthetic, and spiritual traditions that predated communist rule—through live performance. Alongside ancient legends, ethnic and folk traditions, and visits to ancient dynasties, Shen Yun also depicts the ongoing persecution of people of faith in China today and the courage of their conviction.
This year also marked the release of “Unbroken: The Untold Story of Shen Yun,” the first-ever feature documentary about the company, produced by Sincere Pictures. The film is now streaming on all major platforms.
The film offers an unprecedented look behind the curtain, following the personal journeys of Shen Yun artists and their families while highlighting the faith, sacrifice, and perseverance behind the company’s mission. Shen Yun performers, including those featured in the film, attended red carpet movie premieres and live Q&A panels in New York City, Toronto, Taipei, Dallas, and Los Angeles.
This season’s all-new production also featured:
- 16 originally choreographed dance pieces and orchestral compositions
- 3,184 original-design costumes and 1,520 stage props
- 112 Manchurian platform shoes, used in one of the most distinctive ethnic dance styles
- 8 live orchestras blending classical Western and Chinese instruments
- 8 erhu soloists performing original instrumental pieces on stage
- 13 singers performing Chinese lyrics in traditional bel canto style
Even as Shen Yun concludes its 20th anniversary season, preparations are already underway for an all-new 2027 production.
